Overview
The MK 4 Practice Bomb Signal Cartridge is used with aircraft-dropped practice bombs to indicate the point of bomb impact. When a practice bomb is dropped, the impact forces the firing pin against the signal primer igniting the expelling charge and releasing the marker compound. The cartridge expels red phosphorus at impact, producing a brilliant flash of light and a puff of smoke.
