Overview
The ground burst simulator, M115A2, is used to create battle noises and flash effects during training for personnel to get used to battlefield distractions. It produces a high-pitched whistle that lasts 2 to 4 seconds for noise stimulation, while the detonation produces a flash and loud report. The body of this device consists of a closed paper cylinder containing approximately 2 ounces of photoflash powder. A whistle assembly, to one side of which is attached a safety fuze, protrudes from one end. Its overall length is 7.13 inches, and its diameter is approximately 2.25 inches. A Fuze Lighter, M3A1, is taped along the side of the body and is connected to the safety fuze.
